Jesse Pickett Family Safety Event
Reminder to set your clocks back November 3 and to also change batteries in your smoke detectors. Note: Never disconnect a detector. Relocate it if it is subject to nuisance alarms. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions about cleaning your detector. Excessive dust, grease or other material in the detector may cause it to operate abnormally, vacuum the grill work of your detector.
Establish advanced family planning for escape in the event of a fire. Include small children as part of the discussion and rehearsal. It is important that they understand they must escape and not hide from fire under a bed or in a closet.
This event, which aims to educate the public on a broad scope of safety-related topics is held in honor of the Fire Prevention Specialist Jesse Pickett, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in December of 2013. It serves to memorialize his diligent efforts to reduce the loss of life from fires in our community.
